The Human Resource Generalist at Dominique Dawes Gymnastics and Ninja Academy is responsible for performing a wide range of HR-related duties, with a specific focus on payroll, recruiting, employee relations and culture. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: payroll administration, benefits management, employee relations, recruitment, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, and compliance with employment laws.

Responsibilities

  • Administer payroll, ensuring timely and accurate processing, resolving payroll  discrepancies, and maintaining payroll records in compliance with company policies and  relevant regulations.
  • Leads recruitment efforts for unit-level personnel, both full and part-time employees;  conducts new-employee onboarding.
  • Administer various human resource plans and procedures for organization personnel;  assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures;  maintains the employee handbook and the policies and procedures manual.
  • Participates in developing goals, objectives, and systems to support the unique needs of  a gymnastics and youth sports environment.
  • Performs benefits administration, including claims resolution, change reporting, and  communicating benefits information to employees.
  • Handles employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, and exit interviewing,  with a focus on maintaining a positive culture in a sports-centric environment.
  • Completes all verifications, background checks, reference checks, and clearances  required to ensure compliance with applicable laws and grant requirements.
  • Coordinates centralized hiring processes, including updating job descriptions, postings,  and managing external job site postings.
  • Maintains human resource information system (HRIS) records and compiles reports,  with a focus on accuracy and security.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, with  specific attention to the needs of the sports and youth-focused industry.

Skills & Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of prior Human Resource experience required
  • Strong payroll administration skills, with hands-on experience managing payroll for an  organization.
  • Must be able to communicate and interact with a variety of internal/external customers  and/or co-workers at a level of detail required to resolve issues of moderate complexity
  • Proficiency in utilizing payroll/HR software systems is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to deliver clear, understandable messages  to staff, coaches, and external partners.
  • Familiarity with general employment laws, recruitment, and compliance.

Preferred Education/Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field, with 5+  years of experience.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar payroll certification is highly desired.
  • Experience in the fitness, gymnastics, or youth sports/enrichment industry is a plus.
