Position Overview
The gymnastics and/or ninja summer camp counselor will work in conjunction with the General Manager, Program Manager, and other team members to provide a fun, positive and successful camp experience for participants from 4-13 years old in our gymnastics and ninja spaces.
Gymnastics or ninja experience is not required – just a passion for working with kids!
Job Type: Part-time (Hourly)
Pay Range: $15.00 – $24.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday to Friday from approximately 8:30 a.m – 3:15 p.m. (half day or full day options may be available)
Camp Dates: June 16th – August 22nd (10 weeks)
Commitment: Minimum of 5 weeks, working all assigned days.
Training: Flexible training sessions run from mid-May through June and must be completed before the first assigned camp week.
Opportunities for Fall Employment: Summer counselors interested in continuing into the fall for regular programs will be given priority consideration.
Job Fair Alert: We will host job fairs at our Clarksburg, Rockville, and Columbia locations during the week of April 14. Applicants will receive an RSVP link and further details via email in early April. The job fair will serve as the initial interview phase, with additional interviews scheduled as needed.
Responsibilities
- Create a fun and engaging camp atmosphere that meets the needs of the community and that aligns with DDGNA’s objectives, mission, and goals.
- Provide instruction in preschool gymnastics, recreational gymnastics, and/or ninja instruction to camp participants (training provided).
- Help lead and assist camp activities including games, challenges, open gym, arts and crafts, lunch/snack, and more.
- Serve as a positive role model, providing encouragement, and guidance to campers.
- Follow the structured lesson plans, rotation schedules, and camp curriculum assigned.
- Maintain any required certifications.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment, including periodic equipment safety checks and regular cleaning duties.
- Present a positive and professional attitude towards campers, families and fellow team members.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum age: 16 years old.
- Experience with children is strongly preferred.
- Sports background preferred but not required – training will be provided.
- Strong communication skills, responsible, eager and enthusiastic.
- Dependability and punctuality is required; must have reliable transportation.
- CPR certification preferred.
- Background checks, including fingerprinting, are required for employment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move actively for extended periods.
- Capability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to demonstrate and assist with basic gymnastics and ninja movements.
- Comfortable working in an energetic, fast-paced environment.
